Guide to our Swim Diapers

What are swim diapers?

Swim diapers are specially designed to be worn in the water, with their primary function being to ensure that no feces enters the pool water. A swim diaper does not swell up in the water like a regular diaper would if it ends up in the water. It also won't become heavy and bulky, weighing the child down in the water. Additionally, our swim diapers are washable and can be used many, many times.

Why use a washable swim diaper instead of a disposable one?

By choosing a product that can be used repeatedly instead of being thrown away after each use, you save both money and the environment. Below, you can read more about our materials, washing instructions, and answers to common questions.

How swim diapers work

A swim diaper contains feces within the diaper and prevents it from leaking out into the water. Put on the swim diaper just like a regular swimsuit bottom. Ensure that the elastic around the thighs, groin, and waist fits snugly. If there is a gap, the diaper is too big and won't fulfill its function.

Check the swim diaper regularly

It's a good idea to check the diaper every 1-2 hours. Also, be observant of your baby's cues. Older children can be taken to the bathroom every 1-2 hours to see if they need to relieve themselves.

When feces is detected in the swim diaper, it's time to change it. If feces is allowed to remain in the diaper in the water, it will eventually dissolve into the water and seep out into the pool water. So, change the swim diaper as soon as you notice it. Remove the child from the water as soon as possible.

What to do when the child has soiled the diaper

Take the child out of the water as soon as they have soiled the diaper. Change the diaper to a clean one. Flush the feces down the toilet and rinse the swim diaper. Place it in a storage bag until you return home. We recommend having two swim diapers so you can change to a clean one when accidents happen.

What size should you choose?

Our swim diapers are sized according to weight. However, we recommend measuring the child and comparing it to the size chart to find the right size. Children come in many different shapes and sizes, and two children of the same weight can look completely different physically, so weight measurements are not entirely reliable. You can find the size chart for each product on the product page.

How to measure your child correctly according to the size chart?

The two most important measurements are around the thighs and waist, and ensuring the elastic fits snugly.
Waist: Measure around the waist where the diaper sits, and compare it to the measurement table.
Thighs: This measurement is taken at the highest point around the thigh at the groin area of the child.
Inseam: The inseam measurement is taken by measuring from the middle of the waistband in the front, down under and between the child's legs, and up to the middle of the waistband in the back.

If the child fits into two sizes - do this:

Sometimes the measurements fall within the range for two different sizes. The most important thing is that the waist and thigh measurements fit, so let those two measurements be the deciding factor. It's important that the diaper fits well around the legs to avoid feces ending up outside and in the water.
